Tope Wire Trace
Tope rig constructed with 100lb bs wire and size 5/O hook.A tough trace made with wire to withstand the fighting power of these species but also to withstand the abrasive qualities of a Topes skin which is sharp enough to cut straight through thin mono. The size 5/O hook is a strong piece of tackle and is chemically sharpened for a clean and secure hookset. For Conger use the trace as is but for Tope add 5 - 6 feet of a heavy mono line or a wire with a similar breaking strain to the trace before then attaching the hook.

Bait the hook and adjust the position of the bait clip so that you can trap the bend of the hook under the clip not too tightly.
